I created these wax blocks from an idea I had to create my own mark making tools.
I started by making a mockup.
Thinking about the various points of contact where a tool would be dragged across a surface, I created a set of textures that could offer unique markings. Then I created a mold of my design. I utilized recycled color wax to make the first prototype.
Once I was satisfied with the result, I selected colors that I wanted to use and made a final set. Here’s what the blocks look like when used to draw on surfaces.
I also wanted to design a package to hold my wax blocks. I found a small box and outfitted it with foam inserts to keep the blocks secure, then created a label design for the lid.
